The Times - Despite recent reforms, it remains unaffordable and untransparent. Now some experts question whether it should be saved at all. Health tests in clinics, hotels and supermarkets may be causing “more harm than good”, senior doctors have said. They warned this weekend of patients being “misled” or “unduly worried” by the results of the private tests. A range of free screening checks are offered by the NHS. The national programmes — including blood tests for newborns and breast screening for women aged 50 and over — are ratified by experts on the UK National Screening Committee.
