• UK private sector pay outpaces public wages by fivefold

FINANCIAL TIMES -   Londra   (Delphine Strauss and Jim Pickard) - UK private sector pay grew almost five times as fast as that of public sector workers in the year to May, according to official data released as ministers prepare to sign off on real terms wage cuts for teachers, doctors and NHS staff. The new figures will galvanise union leaders who are threatening strikes if the government on Tuesday confirms that it will hold pay rises below 5 per cent at a time when inflation soars above 9 per cent. Unions representing teachers, health workers and civil servants have warned of widespread disruption if ministers approve further real terms pay cuts for the coming year...>>>
