• NHS waiting lists force a fifth of adults to give up on their GP
THE TELEGRAPH - Londra - (Melissa Lawford) - Lengthy NHS waiting lists mean a fifth of adults have given up on their GP, official data shows, forcing many to resort to private healthcare. In January, 21pc of adults reported that they had needed to contact their GP practice but decided not to, according to the Office for National Statistics (ONS). The majority of these people (59pc) said this was because it would simply take too long to be seen. A further 26pc said they avoided seeing their GP because they did not want to increase the burden on the NHS. Protracted waiting lists are pushing patients to turn to the private system. One in 17 adults said that they had either paid for a private medical appointment, test or treatment in the last month, or had used private insurance to cover some or all of the cost of doing so... >>>
